Spc. Jacob J. Fairbanks, 22, of Saint Paul, Minn., died April 9, 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.  The incident is under investigation.  Update:  fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Cpl. Adam R. Fales 21, Combat Service Support Detachment-21, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force Cullman, Alabama.  Died of a non-hostile gunshot wound in Falluja, Iraq, on December 16, 2005.  He was assigned to Combat Service Support Detachment-21, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C. The   incident is under investigation.

Cpl. Shawn D. Fannin, 32, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, died Nov. 12, 2010 in Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 404th Aviation Support Battalion, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

1st Lt. Daniel Farkas, 42, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died on July 4, 2008 of injuries suffered from a non-hostile incident in Kabul, Afghanistan (Camp Phoenix).  He was assigned to the 27th Infantry Brigade
Combat Team, Syracuse, N.Y.   The incident is under investigation.

Staff Sgt. Donald B. Farmer, 33, of Zion, Illinois.  Two members of the 180th Transportation Battalion, 13th Corps Support Command, Fort Hood, Texas died December 19, 2004 in Shuaybah, Kuwait, when a vehicle struck them.

Sgt. Andrew K. Farrar Jr. 31, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force Weymouth, Massachusetts.  Died due to a non-hostile related incident in Anbar province, Iraq, on January 28, 2005 Al Anbar Province. Non-hostile – electrocution.

Staff Sgt. Jefferey J. Farrow 28, 146th Quartermaster Company, Army Reserve Birmingham, Alabama Died of non-combat related injuries in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, on July 19, 2005.

Army Capt. Brian Faunce, 28, Sept. 18, 2003was a Bensalem High School graduate. He was electrocuted in Al Asad, Iraq.

1st Lt. Mathew G. Fazzari, 25, of Walla Walla, Wash. died June 6, 2012 in Qarah Bagh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Major Curtis D. Feistner, 34, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, died on Feb. 21, 2002; Philippines helicopter crash.

Sgt. Gregory D. Fejeran, 28, of Barrigada, Guam.  Died Mar. 5, 2007 in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over. The incident is under investigation.

Lt. Col. Glade L. Felix, 52, of Lake Park, Ga., died June 11, 2007 at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. His death is under investigation.  Felix was assigned to the 622nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

Pfc. Cori Feltner, 22, from Loxahatchee, Florida, died October 25, 2008 from unknown causes.  She had just completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and was preparing for service in Korea.

2nd Lt. Matthew B. Fenner, 25, of Hawley, died August 9, 2010 in a non-combat incident at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.  According to a military release, Fenner was a member of “B” Company 701st MP (Military Police) Batallion, 14th MP Brigade at Fort Leonard Wood. The Army has not released information concerning the death but said an investigation is under way.

Master Sgt. Richard L. Ferguson, 45, of Conway, New Hampshire, died March 30, 2004 in Somara, Iraq, when the military vehicle he was riding in rolled over. Ferguson was assigned to the Army’s 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Sgt. Christopher J. C. Fernandez, 28, of Dededo, Guam.  Died Mar. 5, 2007 in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over. The incident is under investigation.

Spc. Darrell L. Fernandez, 25, of Truth or Consequences, N.M., died Jan. 31, 2009 in Kirkuk, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle accident. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

Sgt. Nathan R. Field, 23, of Lehigh, Iowa. died in Umm Qasr, Iraq, on Jan. 7, 2006, when his MMWV was hit by a civilian vehicle.  Field was assigned to the Army Reserve’s 4249th Port Security Company, Pocahontas, Iowa.

Cpl. Douglas Lance Fielder, 22, died of wounds inflicted by machine gun fire from a US Bradley Fighting Vehicle on February 27, 1991.

Capt. Michael S. Fielder, 35, of Holly Springs, N.C., died Aug. 19, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 248th Medical Detachment, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 44th Medical Command, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Spc. Kirsten Fike, 36, of Warren, PA, died on August 10, 2006 while on duty along the Arizona-Mexico border watching for illegal aliens.  She had deployed there with her unit, the 28th Military Police Company, based in Greensburg, PA.  She collapsed during a 12-hour mission and was tended by a combat medic to no avail.  She was formerly in the Air Force and had joined he National Guard on June 12th.

Petty Officer 1st Class Vincent A. Filpi III, 41, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died as a result of a non-combat related incident. Filpi was assigned to USS Enterprise as an aviation ordnance man.; Enterprise is currently deployed to the Fifth Fleet area of responsibility conducting operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sgt. Courtney D. Finch, 27, of Leavenworth, Kan., died July 24, 2007 in Qayyarah, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 714th Maintenance Company, Kansas Army National Guard, Topeka, Kan.  The incident is under investigation.

Marine Sgt. Michael W. Finke, Jr., 28, of Huron, Ohio.  Finke died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

SSgt. Jerome Firtamag, 29, of Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia, was medically evacuated from Kandahar, Afghanistan, to the United States on Dec. 1, 2010, for treatment of liver cancer.  He died Feb. 24, 2011 in Pembroke, Ky. Firtamag was assigned to the 96th Combat Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.   He was an avionic radar repairer assigned to Bravo Company, 96th Combat Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. He joined the Army in March 2003 and arrived at Fort Campbell in January 2007

Spc. David M. Fisher, 21, of Green Island, New York, died December 1, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his unit was on patrol and the HMWWV in which he was riding rolled over. Fisher was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 101st Cavalry Regiment, Newburgh, New York.

Cpl. Donald E. Fisher II, 21, of Avon, Massachusetts.  Fisher died in Kirkuk, Iraq when his convoy vehicle was involved in a collision. He was assigned to the 40th Transportation Company, 44th Corps Support Battalion, 593rd Corps Support Group, Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on November 11, 2005.

Staff Sgt. Sean P. Fisher, 29, of Santee, Calif.  The Department of Defense announced today the death of five soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died Aug. 14, 2007 in Al Taqqadum, Iraq, of injuries suffered when their helicopter crashed. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment, Task Force 49, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The incident is under
investigation.

Private Daniel Patrick Fisher of Bassett, Virginia, 19 on October 4, 2007.  A release from the fort says the 19-year-old Fisher was killed Thursday when he was accidentally shot by a machine gun during a training exercise.  >It says Fisher was training on the loading and unloading of an M-2 machine gun when the weapon fired. He was taken to the Troop Medical Clinic then to Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton where he was pronounced dead.

1st Lt. Robert Fletcher, was killed by a fellow service member at Ft. Hood, TX on September 8, 2009.

Sgt. 1st Class Brandon Floyd, 30 died on July 19, 2002.  He also was taking Lariam before he killed his wife and himself, although the Army said it could not confirm that he was taking the drug.

Chief Warrant Officer John M. Flynn, 36, of Sparks, Nevada. Flynn was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 113th Aviation Regiment, Stead, Nevada. All five personnel aboard a CH-47 transport helicopter were killed when it crashed southwest of Deh Chopan, Afghanistan, on September 25, 2005. Officials reported that the aircraft was returning from a mission in support of an ongoing operation at the time of the crash. There were no reports of enemy involvement in the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Chief Warrant Officer Paul J. Flynn, 28, 4th Squadron, 6th U.S. Air Cavalry Regiment Whitsett, North Carolina. One of 14 soldiers killed when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter accidentally crashed while returning from a combat mission in Multaka, Iraq, on August 22, 2007.

Sgt. Ryan D. Foraker 2002-09-24. 31, Logan Ohio 342nd Military Police Company Army Reserve Ryan  Disappeared from his unit in Guantanamo Bay. Exhaustive searches were conducted in an effort to locate him. His clothes and personal effects were found near the water’s edge.

Spc. Joseph A. Ford, 23, of Knox, Ind., died May 10, 2008 in Al Asad, Iraq, of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 152nd Cavalry Regiment, 76th Brigade Combat Team, Indiana National Guard, New Albany, Ind.  The incident is under investigation.

Sgt. James F. Fordyce, 22, of Newton Square, Pa. WASHINGTON, Feb. 20, 2006 The Defense Department announced the names of eight Marines and two airmen killed in a Feb. 17, 2006 helicopter crash while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  All 10 died when two CH-53 Sea Stallion
helicopters crashed into the Gulf of Aden near Ras Siyyan, northern Djibouti, while flying a training mission in the Godoria Range area, officials reported.  The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Sgt. Curtis J. Forshey, 22, of Hollidaysburg, Pa., died Mar. 27 in Homburg, Germany, of a non-combat related illness. Forshey was assigned to the 129th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.

Sgt. Jeremy D. Foshee, 25, of Pisgah, Alabama, died on Feb. 21, 2002;  Philippines helicopter crash.

Sgt. Gregory M. Frampton, 37, of California, died on Jan. 30, 2003; helicopter crash.

Pfc. Jason Franco 18, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Corona, California Died from a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq, on October 31, 2006.  Update:  gunshot wound to the head.

Spc. Leslie Frederick Jr 23, July 26, 2005— shot and killed himself at his South Tacoma apartment. Wounded while serving 15 months in Iraq, Frederick had recently been among the first soldiers to receive the Army’s new Combat Action Badge, which represents, says Army Chief of Staff Gen. Peter J. Schoomaker, “the Warrior Ethos.” Frederick, according to relatives, suffered psychologically from the stress of combat. His wife also won a divorce and custody of their child six days before his suicide.

Benjamin L. Freeman, 19, Valdosta GAA private drowns in a recreational swimming hole set up for troops in the Euphrates River.

Spc. Daniel J. Freeman, 20, of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Freeman died in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when the CH-47 helicopter he was on crashed. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment, Camp Ederle, Italy.

Air Force Capt. Jeremy Fresques, 26, of Clarkdale, Arizona.  Fresques died in the crash of an Iraqi air force aircraft during a training mission in eastern Diyala province. He was assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida. Died on May 30, 2005.

Lance Cpl. David K. Fribley, 26, died on March 23, 2003 in Nasiriyah, Iraq of friendly fire.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Sgt. Ralph Anthony Webb Frietas, 23, of Detroit, Mich., died Dec 8, 2009. as a result of unknown causes in Baghdad.  He was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Marine Wing Support Group 17, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan. The incident is under investigation.

SSgt. Kerry W. Frith, 37, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died on Feb. 21, 2002;  Philippines helicopter crash.

Staff Sgt. Christopher S. Frost, 24, of Waukesha, Wis., died March 3, 2008 near Bayji, Iraq in a crash of an Iraqi Army Mi-17 helicopter.  He was assigned to the 377th Air Base Wing, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.  The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.

Sgt. 1st Class Eric Yasuji Fujiwara, 54 was found dead on Kauai after physical training on November 16, 2011.  He served in the Hawaii National Guard as a  light-wheeled mechanic  and died while on duty at a vehicle maintenance shop in Hanapepe.

1st Lt. Travis J. Fuller, 26, of Granville, Massachusetts.  Fuller died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

Sgt. Donald D. Furman, 30, of Burton, South Carolina.  Furman died in Balad, Iraq when his military vehicle collided with a civilian vehicle and overturned. He was assigned to the 24th Transportation Company, 541st Maintenance Battalion, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died on October 12, 2005.

Spc. Marcus S. Futrell, 20, of Macon, Ga. Died at Tallil Air Base, Iraq, on Dec. 2, 2005 of injuries sustained earlier that day when their truck accidentally rolled over. The soldiers were assigned to the Army National Guard’s 148th Forward Support Battalion, 48th Brigade Combat Team, Forsyth, Ga. The incident is under investigation.

Staff Sgt. Raphael A. Futrell, 26, of Anderson, S.C., died March 25, 2009 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 13th Military Police Detachment, 728th Military Police Battalion, 8th Military Police Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.  The incident is under investigation.

Spc. Matthew R. Gallagher, 22, of North Falmouth, Mass., died June 26, 2011 in Wasit province, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. Shot “inside the wire.”

Sgt. Denis J. Gallardo 22, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment St. Petersburg, Florida. Died of a non-combat related illness in Tal Afar, Iraq, on November 22, 2005. Gallardo was assigned to the Army’s 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.

Spc. Joseph L. Gallegos, 39, of Questa, N.M., died Oct. 28, 2009 in Tallil, Iraq, in a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 720th Transportation Company, New Mexico Army National Guard, in Las Vegas, N.M.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Senior Airman Richard Allan Gallelli Jr., 22, was a member of the 17th Munitions Squadron was killed on April 29th 2010 in a “training accident.”

Sgt. Daniel Lee Galvan, 30, of Moore, Oklahoma, died on Aug. 12, 2004; helicopter crash in Salerno, Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Loleni W. Gandy, 36, of Pago Pago, American Samoa, died Nov. 19, 2010 in Balad, Iraq, in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa.

Command Master Chief Jeffrey J. Garber, 43, of Hemingford, Neb. died of non-hostile causes June 20, 2009 aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the North Arabian Sea.  The incident is under investigation.

Captain Anthony R. Garcia 48, died as a result of a non-combat related gunshot wound in Tikrit, Iraq. He was a physician assistant assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Aviation Brigade.

PFC James V. Gardner, USMC, died October 1, 1991 at the Bangor Naval Subbase at Silverdale, Washington.  Died of an “apparent suicide by gunshot.”  The family contests the finding of cause of death.

Spc. James W. Gardner 22, 1st Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Glasgow, Kentucky.  Died of a non-combat related cause in Tal Afar, Iraq, on April 10, 2006.

Cpl. Jose A. Garibay, 21, of Costa Mesa, California, died on March 23, 2003, of possible friendly fire.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Cpl. Erik T. Garoutte, 22, of Santee, Calif., died Oct. 19, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st  Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company, Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Norfolk, Va. Garoutte, 22, of Santee, Calif., collapsed and died Oct. 19 after working out in Baghdad, where he had been stationed for nearly three months.

Warrant Officer John W. Garrett, Jr. died on April 14, 1994 over Iraq when two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down by friendly fire.

Sgt. Landis W. Garrison, 23, of Rapid City, Illinois, died April 29, 2004 in Abu Gharb, Iraq, of an accidental gunshot wound. Garrison was assigned to the 333rd Military Police Company, Illinois National Guard, Freeport.

Spc. Ryan Gartner, 23, of Dumont, NJ, died Feb. 1, 2011 in Bagram, Afghanistan after being shot in a non-combat incident days before his unit was to end its deployment, military officials reported. He was assigned to the 201st Military Intelligence Battalion, Ft. Sam Houston, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.

Pfc. Nathaniel D. Garvin, 20, of Radcliff, Ky., died July 12, 2001 at Forward Operating Base Frontenac, Afghanistan (Kandahar, Afghanistan), of  injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Pfc. Class Damian J. Garza, 19, of Odessa, Texas.  Two members of the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, died on August 4, when their Humvee slid into the Kunar River northeast of Jalalabad, Afghanistan. The Armed Services Press Services reported that two other service members escaped from the vehicle before it slid into the river. One was treated and released by U. S. military medical personnel at the scene, and the other was transported to Bagram Air Base for treatment. The soldier was reported to be in good condition and was expected to be released soon. The up-armored Humvee was part of a larger convoy conducting operations against enemy forces. The convoy was traveling along the river, which is swollen due to melting snow from nearby mountain peaks and rainfall in the area in recent weeks.

Chief Warrant Officer Bradley J. Gaudet, 31, of Gladewater, Texas died June 5, 2011, in Khost province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered as the result of a helicopter crash. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

Pfc. Anthony A. Gaunky, 19, of Sparta, Wisconsin.  Gaunky died at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries sustained in Bayji, Iraq, on November 17, 2005 when a local national crossed the median and struck his HMMWV during convoy operations. He was assigned to the 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  Died on November 18, 2005.

Sgt. Christopher P. Geiger 38, Headquarters Company, 213th Area Support Group, Pennsylvania Army National Guard Northampton, Pennsylvania.  Died of a heart attack in Bagram, Afghanistan, on July 9, 2003.

2nd Lt. Mark C. Gelina 33, 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force Moberly, Missouri Died in a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq, on November 4, 2006.

Staff Sgt. Lewis J. Gentry 48,  94th Engineer Battalion Detroit, Michigan.  Died of a non-combat related cause in Mosul, Iraq, on October 26, 2005.  He was assigned to the 94th Engineer Battalion, Vilseck, Germany. Died on October 26, 2005.

Lt. Col. James C. Gentry, of Williams, Ind., died of lung cancer November 25, 2009. He was the commander of Indiana National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 152nd Infantry Regiment, based in Jasper.  Gentry, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, He joined a federal lawsuit filed in December 2008. It accuses Texas-based KBR and several related companies of concealing the risks faced by 136 Indiana  National Guard soldiers potentially exposed to a cancer-causing agent, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

SSgt. Scott N. Germosen, 37, of Queens, N.Y., died on Jan. 9, 2002; plane crash in Pakistan.

Chief Warrant Officer Thomas J. Gibbons, 31, of Maryland, died on Jan. 30, 2003; helicopter crash.

Cpl. Timothy M. Gibson, 23, of Hillsborough, New Hampshire.  Gibson died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

Pvt. Dominique Gibson-Brooks, 19 from Houston, Texas, died on Sept. 25, 2008 of apparent natural causes.

Pvt. Jonathan L. Gifford, 20, of Decatur/Macon, Illinois, died on March 23, 2003, in Nasiriyah, iraq of possible friendly fire.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Cpl. Richard A. Gilbert, Jr., 26, of Montgomery, Ohio.  Gilbert died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

Gill, 25, of Fayetteville, N.C., died Jan. 26, 2010 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center of an illness.  He was evacuated from Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan, Dec. 19, 2009, where he was supporting combat operations.  Gill was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Sgt. Charles C. Gillican III, 35, of Brunswick, Georgia.  Gillican died at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, from injuries sustained in a military vehicle accident. Gillican was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 118th Field Artillery Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade, Brunswick, Georgia. Died on May 14, 2005.

Sgt. Benjamin J. Gilman, 28, of Meriden, Connecticut, died on Jan. 29, 2004; explosion at weapons cache west of Ghazni, Afghanistan.

LCpl. Johnathan K. Goffred, 22, Johnson County, IN  Died on January 26, 2008.  Stationed at Camp Pendleton — 3rd Battalion, 1st Regiment — “He was found hanged in his barracks room on a Saturday morning.”

Spc. Christopher A. Golby, 26, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Golby was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) based in Fort Carson, Colorado. A UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crashed on January 8, 2004 while on a MEDEVAC mission in Fallujah, Iraq. Nine soldiers were killed in the incident.

Spc. Ethan L. Goncalo, 21, of Fall Rivers, Mass., died Dec. 11, 2010 in Kabul, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment, Worcester, Mass.

Staff Sgt. Esau S.A. Gonzales, 30, of White Deer, Texas, died May 3, 2010 in Mosul, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a  non-combat related chest wound. He was assigned to the 38th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, Fort Stewart, Ga.

Cpl. Jorge A. Gonzalez, 20, of Los  Angeles, California, died on March 23, 2003 in Nasiriyah, Iraq, of possible friendly fire.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Spc. Moises J. Gonzalez, 29, Huntington, Calif., died April 25, 2012 in Balkh province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his vehicle rolled over.  Gonzalez was assigned to the 509th Combat Service Support Company, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

Spc. Rodrigo Gonzalez-Garza, 26, of Texas, died on Feb. 24, 2003; helicopter crash in Kuwait.

Senior Airman Alecia S. Good, 23, of Broadview Heights, Ohio. Good was assigned to the 92nd Communications Squadron, Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash.  WASHINGTON, Feb. 20, 2006 The Defense Department announced the names of eight Marines and two airmen killed in a Feb. 17, 2006 helicopter crash while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. All 10 died when two CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters crashed into the Gulf of Aden near Ras Siyyan, northern Djibouti, while flying a training mission in the Godoria Range area, officials reported. The cause of the crash is under
investigation.

Army Spc. Dakotah L. Gooding, 21, of Des Moines, Iowa.  Gooding died in Balad, Iraq, when the vehicle he was riding in overturned. He was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on February 13, 2005. 

Marine Capt. Lyle L. Gordon, 30, of Midlothian, Texas.  Gordon died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California. Died on January 26, 2005.

Sgt. Robert D. Gordon II, 22, of River Falls, Ala., died Sept. 16, 2009 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, from a non-combat related illness, after becoming ill Sept. 11 in southern Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigationSgt. Sgt. Marcos Gorra, 22, of North Bergen, NJ, died February 21, 2010 at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained in a training incident.  He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC.

Sgt. Edward S. Grace, 39, of South Dartmouth, Mass., died Oct. 23, 2011 in Silver Spring, Md., from a non-combat illness. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 182nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Massachusetts National Guard, Braintree, Mass.

Sgt. Shawn A. Graham, 34, of Red Oak, Texas, died on September 25, 2005, in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained earlier that day in Baghdad, Iraq.  The vehicle in which he was riding accidentally rolled over. Graham was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 124th Cavalry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, Fort Worth, Texas.

Lance Cpl. David J. Grames Sanchez, 22, of Fort Wayne, Ind.  Died May 11, 2006, as a result of a vehicle accident in Al Anbar province, Iraq. All four Marines were assigned to the 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Capt. Thomas J. Gramith, 27, of Eagan, Minn. died July 17. 2009 in a F-15E crash near Ghazni Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 336th Fighter Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael J. Gray, 32, of Richmond, Virginia, died March 5 2004 in Kuwait. Gray was traveling to the Kuwait Navy Base when his vehicle was struck from the rear by a civilian vehicle. Gray was assigned to Navy Detachment Kuwait Navy Base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Yance T. Gray, 26, one of the authors of “The War as We Saw It,” was killed in Baghdad on September 10, 2007 when the five-ton cargo truck he was riding in overturned. Two of seven soldiers who wrote a controversial New York Times editorial about their war experiences in Iraq were killed Sept. 10, 2007 in Baghdad.

Sgt. Curtis Green 25, 331st Signal Company, Fort Riley 12/6/2004. “Over my dead body are they going to make me go back.” “I knew he was having dreams, nightmares,” Lisset said. “He would wake up at night really sweaty.” On Dec. 6, he showed up for work, his uniform pressed, his boots polished. He sang cadence. That night, he was found hanging in his barracks. 

Cpl. Jeffrey G. Green 20, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Dallas, Texas.  Found dead in the Euphrates River in Anbar province, Iraq, on May 5, 2004. The cause of death is under investigation.

Cpl. Jeremy R. Greene, 24, of Springfield, Ohio, died Apr. 28, 2007 at Forward Operating Base Tillman, Afghanistan, due to injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident.  Greene was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain
Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.  According to the Department of Defense, Greene was killed when a weapon discharged while being cleaned by a group of soldiers at Forward Operating Base Tillman, Afghanistan. His death is under investigation.
Spc. Quincy J. Green, 26, of El Paso, Texas, died June 2, 2008 in Tikrit, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 601st Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.  The incident is under investigation.
Seaman Genesia Mattril Gresham, 19, of Lithonia, Ga. held the Master-at-Arms rating and was assigned to U.S. Naval Support Activity Bahrain.  She died on October 22, 2007 of a gunshot wound.  Homicide at the hands of a fellow sailor.
Benjamin Griego, 26, was found dead in Army housing at White Sands Missile Range on July 13, 2007.  He was serving our country as Cadre, on his second term enlistment, representing the New Mexico Army National Guard. His duty involved training military branches of service for transition to a Warrior Transition course previously transferred to Dona Ana Range from Ft. Knox, Kentucky.  His story.

Spc. Jarrett P. Griemel, 20, of La Porte, Texas, died June 3, 2009 at Forward Operating Base Gardez, the Army said.  Griemel, a petroleum supply specialist, was assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division at Fort Richardson.  The unit deployed to Afghanistan this year in February and March. He joined the Army in June 2006 and arrived at Fort Richardson in March 2008.  Further details on Griemel’s death, including whether it appeared to be from natural causes or an accident, were not immediately available. Allen said he didn’t have any details on the circumstances. The death remains under investigation.

Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey Griffey, 37, of Byron Center was found unresponsive on December 7, 2012 at an apartment in Fayetteville, N.C.   Griffey was part of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. His assignment was with the Headquarters Company, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team. Griffey joined the Army in 1993 and served on two combat deployments, first in Iraq in 2003-2004 and then in Afghanistan in 2007.

Spc. James T. Grijalva 26, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment, Illinois Army National Guard Burbank, Illinois Died of a non-combat related injury in Baghdad, Iraq, on October 12, 2005.  He was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment, Urbana, Illinois.

MCpl. Kyle J. Grimes, 21, of Northampton, Pennsylvania.  Grimes died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

Chief Warrant Officer Billie Jean Grinder, an Army National Guard pilot of Gallatin, TN was killed February 21, 2010 in a helicopter crash while serving in Iraq.  She was a member of Troop C 1/230th Air Cavalry, based in Louisville, TN.

Chief Warrant Officer Travis W. Grogan, 31, of Virginia Bach, Virginia, died on Nov. 27, 2004; aircraft crash in Bamian Afghanistan.

Pfc. Daniel F. Guastaferro, 27, of Las Vegas, Nevada.  Guastaferro died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when his military vehicle left the road and went into a canal. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Camp Casey, Korea. Died on January 7, 2005.

Pvt. Ernesto R. Guerra, 20, of Long Beach, California, died July 29 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained on July 28 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his HMMWV was involved in an accident. Guerra was assigned to the Army’s 4-3rd Brigade Troops Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Staff Sgt. Raul M. Guerra, 37, died July 4, 2012 in Spin Boldak, Afghanistan.  The cause of his death has not yet been determined, but the Department of Defense said it was a non-combat death that occurred on base.  Guerra was assigned to the 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

 Sgt. Michael J. Guillory, 28, of Pearl River, La., died Dec. 14, 2012 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif.  This incident is under investigation.

Tech. Sgt. David Guindon 48, Manchester, NH died on 8/18/2004 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Pfc. Leonard J. Gulczynski I, 19, of Carol Stream, Ill., died Sept. 17, 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained when his vehicle was involved in an accident. He was assigned to the 610th Engineer Support Company, 14th Engineer Battalion, 555th Engineer Brigade, Fort Lewis, Wash.  The incident is under investigation.

Zachary Gullett, 20, a private first class with C Company 787 Military Police Battalion, serving with Multi-National Force-Iraq (MNC-I) died Tuesday morning due to non-combat-related causes, the family was told when military officers visited their Rocky Fork Lake area home.  Gullett reportedly collapsed during exercises, lost consciousness, and died.  May 1, 2007.

Pfc. Hannah L. Gunterman 20, 542nd Maintenance Company, 44th Corps Support Battalion Redlands, California Died after reportedly falling out of a vehicle in Taji, Iraq, on September 4, 2006. The incident is under investigation.

Spc. Agustin Gutierrez, 19, of San Jacinto, Calif. The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died March 29 in North Kabul, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered during a non-combat related vehicle accident on March 28 in North Kabul. Their deaths are under investigation. Both soldiers were assigned to the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C

Spc. Kelvin E. Feliciano Gutierrez, 21,  of Anasco, Puerto Rico, died on June 28, 2003; vehicle accident in Orgun-E, Afghanistan.

Lt. Col. Marshall A. Gutierrez 41, Area Support Group, Arijan, Kuwait New Mexico Died in Camp Virginia, Kuwait of non-combat related injuries on September 4, 2006. The incident is under investigation.

Pfc. Robert A. Guy 26, Company I, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force Willards, Maryland. Died due to a non-hostile incident near Karma, Iraq, on April 21, 2005. “Any little thing they do is a help,” said Ann Guy, of Willards, Md., whose son, Marine Pfc. Robert A. Guy, killed himself in Iraq on April 21, 2005 – a month after he was prescribed the antidepressant Zoloft with no monitoring. His story

Pfc. Derrick D. Gwaltney, 21, of Cape Coral, Fla., died Nov. 29, 2009 south of Basra, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigade, Fort Lewis, Wash.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Justin Haase Died on December 23, 2001 from meningitis which went unrecognized and untreated until too late in USMC boot camp, at Parris Island, S.C.  His story.

Spc. David E. Hall, 21 Uniontown, Kansas, died February 25, 2004 in Kabul, Afghanistan, in a accident. Hall was assigned to 805th Military Police Company, 16th Military Police Brigade, U.S. Army Reserve, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Chief Warrant Officer Michael A. Hall died on April 14, 1994 over Iraq when two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down by friendly fire.

Senior Airman James A. Hansen, 25, of Athens, Mich., died Sept. 15, 2010 of wounds suffered during a controlled detonation at Joint Base Balad, Iraq. He was assigned to the 46th Operations Support Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

Staff Sgt. Jeffrey J. Hansen, 31, of Cairo, Neb., died on Aug. 27, 2006, in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries suffered on Aug. 21 from a vehicle accident in Balad, Iraq. Hansen was assigned to the Army National Guard 1st Squadron, 167th Cavalry Regiment, Lincoln, Neb.

Sgt. Michael C. Hardegree, 21, of Villa Rica, Ga. The Department of Defense announced today the death of seven soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died Sept. 10, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related vehicle rollover. They were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Pfc. Adam J. Hardt, 19, of Avondale, Ariz., died March 22, 2009 at Forward Operating Base Airborne in Wardak Province, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the
2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.
  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Staff Sgt. Zachary Hargrove, 32, of Wichita, died on May 3, 2012 at a medical facility at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.   He was found unresponsive in his living quarters in Afghanistan.  Fort Riley officials said Friday the cause of death was under investigation.  Hargrove was a wheeled vehicle mechanic assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 84th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion, part of the 1st Infantry Division. 

Staff Sgt. Darren Harmon, 44, of Newark Del., died in Haditha, Iraq, on June 3, 2006, from a an apparent heart attack. Harmon was assigned to the Army Reserves 203rd Military Intelligence Battalion, 205th Military Intelligence Brigade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.  The incident is under investigation.

Cpl. Joshua S. Harmon, 20, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division Mentor, Ohio.  One of 14 soldiers killed when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter accidentally crashed while returning from a combat mission in Multaka, Iraq, on August 22, 2007.

Sgt. Matthew Harmon, 29, of Bagley, Minn., was killed by an explosion while recovering a vehicle in Paktika province on August 14, 2011.  He was a member of the 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade based in Germany.

Pfc. Andrew M. Harper, 19, of Maidsville, W. Va., died March 11, 2011 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany

A1C David Travis Harper, apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on December 19, 1993 while on active duty in the 51st Supply Squadron at Osan Air Force Base in Korea.  The family contests the cause of death on the basis of insufficient investigation.

Chief Warrant Officer Stanley L Harriman 2002-03-28. 34, Wade North Carolina 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) Army Harriman and two Afghan soldiers were killed by friendly fire from an Air Force AC-130 gunship during Operation Anaconda in eastern Afghanistan on March 2, 2002.

Sgt. Kyle J. Harrington, 24, of Swansea, Mass., died Jan. 24, 2009 in Basra, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-hostile accident in his unit motor pool.  He was assigned to the 542nd Maintenance Company, 80th Ordnance Battalion, 593rd Sustainment Brigade, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Pfc. Leroy Harris-Kelly, 20, of Azusa, California, died April 20, 2004 north of Tallil, Iraq, when his truck went off the road and rolled over because of limited visibility and dangerous driving conditions. Harris-Kelly was assigned to the 596th Maintenance Company, 3rd Corps Support Command, V Corps, Darmstadt, Germany.

Pvt. Ronald R. Harrison, 25, of Morris Plains, N.J., died April 22, 2008 at Forward Operating Base Falcon near Baghdad, Iraq, of a non-combat related injury.  He was assigned to the 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.  The incident is under investigation.

SSgt. Bradley C. Hart, 25, of Perrysburg, Ohio died February 17, 2011 at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa, of injuries sustained in a non combat incident. He was assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Pvt. Justin P. Hartford, 21, of Elmira, N.Y., died May 8, 2009 at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 699th Maintenance Company, Corps Support Battalion, 916th Support Brigade, Fort Irwin, Calif.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation“Pvt. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael L. Hartwick, of Orrick, Mo. died in Baghdad Iraq on April 1, 2006, when an Apache helicopter crashed while conducting a combat air patrol.  Assigned to the Army’s 4th Battalion, 4th Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Corporal Joshua E. Hartzell, 22, November 6, 2009.  Homicide.

Sgt. 1st Class Matthew A. Harvey, 29, of Houston, was killed in an automobile accident on February 5, 2012.  Military officials had no details about the crash, which they said is under investigation by U.S. and German authorities.  Harvey was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Carson, Colo., serving in the Stuttgart area on a temporary assignment.

Spc. Matthew D. Hastings, 23, of Claremore, Okla., died Aug. 17, 2009 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 582nd Medical Logistics Company, 1st Medical Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command, Fort Hood, Texas.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Staff Sgt. Brian P. Hause, 29, of Stoystown, Pa., died Oct. 23, 2008 of non-combat related medical causes at Balad Air Base, Iraq.  He was assigned to the 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.  The incident is under investigation.

Spc. William S. Hayes III, 23, of St. Tammany, La., died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Feb. 5, 2006, of a non-combat related injury. Hayes was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.  The incident is under investigation.

Pfc. Bryant J. Haynes, 21, of Epps, La., died June 26, 2010 in Al Diwaniyah, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over. He was assigned to the 199th Support Battalion, Louisiana Army National Guard, Alexandria, La.

Sgt. Nathan P. Hays, 21, of Lincoln, Washington, died on Jan. 9, 2002; plane crash in Pakistan.

Spc. Joshua L. Hazlewood, 22, of Manvel, Texas, died June 25, 2009 in Arifjan, Kuwait, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.   He was assigned to the 614th Automated Cargo Documentation Detachment.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Lance Cpl. Randy M. Heck, 20, of Steubenville, Ohio, died March 28, 2010 from a non-hostile incident in Djibouti, Africa. He was assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.  This incident is under investigation.

Chief Warrant Officer Mathew C. Heffelfinger, 29, of Kimberly, Idaho. Died on November 8, 2009 in Tikrit, Iraq, of injuries sustained when their OH-58D helicopter crashed.  He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.  The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.

Kyle Hemauer 21,  of Manassas, Virginia. Hemauer died in Afghanistan, of non-combat related injuries. He was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, Manassas, Virginia. Family questions Army ruling that soldier committed suicide. Published Thursday, August 10, 2006 12:08:28 AM Central Time MILWAUKEE (AP) — The family of a Chilton soldier who died in Afghanistan last year said it plans to continue its own investigation after a new military report says the soldier committed suicide.

Pvt. John M. Henderson, Jr., 21, of Columbus, Georgia.  Two members of the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, died on August 4, when their Humvee slid into the Kunar River northeast of Jalalabad, Afghanistan. The Armed Services Press Services reported that two other service members escaped from the vehicle before it slid into the river. One was treated and released by U. S. military medical personnel at the scene, and the other was transported to Bagram Air Base for treatment. The soldier was reported to be in good condition and was expected to be released soon. The up-armored Humvee was part of a larger convoy conducting operations against enemy forces. The convoy was traveling along the river, which is swollen due to melting snow from nearby mountain peaks and rainfall in the area in recent weeks.

Spc. Robert T. Hendrickson, 24, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  Hendrickson died in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds sustained when his military vehicle overturned. He was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on February 1, 2005.

Spc. Melvin L. Henley Jr., 26, of Jackson, Miss., died at Camp Striker in Baghdad on Nov. 21, 2007 of injuries suffered from gunshot wound to the head.  He was assigned to the 603rd Aviation Support Battalion, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

Spc. Jeffrey S. Henthorn 25, 24th Transportation Company, 541st Maintenance Battalion, 937th Engineer Group Choctaw, Oklahoma Died of non-combat related injuries in Balad, Iraq, on February 8, 2005 What his hometown does not know is that Henthorn, 25, had been sent back to Iraq for a second tour, even though his superiors knew he was unstable and had threatened suicide at least twice, according to Army investigative reports and interviews. When he finally succeeded in killing himself on Feb. 8, 2005, at Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq, an Army report says, the work of the M-16 rifle was so thorough that fragments of his skull pierced the barracks ceiling.

Spc. Marisol Heredia, 19, of El Monte, Calif., died Sept. 7, 2007 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related injury July 18 in Baghdad, Iraq. She was assigned to the 15th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.  “Family members reported that Heredia was refueling a generator on July 18th when a spark ignited gasoline; she was burned over 80% of her body.”

Sgt. Ken K. Hermogino, 30, of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., died May 9, 2011 in Herat province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related vehicle accident. He was assigned to the 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

Spc. Alex Hernandez III of Round Rock, Texas died on May 11, 2012 in Kandahar.  The 25th Combat Aviation Brigade says the 21-year-old was found unresponsive in his room. The brigade says the incident is under investigation.  Hernandez was assigned to the brigade’s 3rd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment. The brigade is part of the 25th Infantry Division at Wheeler Army Airfield in central Oahu.

Sgt. Edelman L. Hernandez, 23, of Hyattsville, Md., April 16, 2007.  A 10th Mountain Division soldier drowned when he fell into the Korengal River in Afghanistan during a combat patrol, Army officials said Monday.  He was on a foot patrol last Wednesday near Babyal Village when he lost his footing and fell into a deep section of the river. Other members of his unit immediately began a search to locate Hernandez. His body was recovered Thursday morning at some distance downstream, according to a release from Fort Drum.  An infantryman assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, Hernandez enlisted in the Army in April 2003. He completed basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning in Georgia.

Lance Cpl. Tony L. Hernandez, 22, of Canyon Lake, Texas.  Hernandez died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California. Died on January 26, 2005.

Spc. Pernell J. Herrera, 33, of Espanola, N.M., died Dec. 31, 2011 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered in a non-combat incident. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 171st Aviation Regiment, Santa Fe, N.M.

Maj. Tad T. Hervas, 48, of Coon Rapids, Minn., died Oct. 6, 2009 at Contingency Operating Base Basra, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a gunshot wound to the head, officially ruled suicide.  He was
assigned to the 34th Infantry Regiment, Rosemont, Minn.

Spc. Julie R. Hickey 20, 412th Civil Affairs Battalion, Army Reserve Galloway, Ohio Hickey was evacuated from Bagram, Afghanistan, on June 30, 2004, and died in Landstuhl, Germany, on July 4 of complications from a non-combat related illness.

Sgt. 1st Class Gregory B. Hicks, 35, of Duff, Tennessee. Hicks was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, based in Fort Hood, Texas. A UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crashed on January 8 2004 while on a MEDEVAC mission in Fallujah, Iraq. Nine soldiers were killed in the incident.

SSgt. Jason Hicks, Jason, 25, of Jefferson, S.C., died on March 23, 2003, helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Stephen C. High, 45, of Spartanburg, South Carolina.  High died in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when the CH-47 helicopter he was on crashed. He was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 228th Signal Brigade, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Brig. Gen. Terence Hildner died on February 3, 2012.  The Fort Hood Web site didn’t disclose any details about Hildner’s death, but said it was under investigation.  His career included commands in Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, as well as conducting the last U.S. patrol along the East-West German border before Germany’s reunification in October 1990, as well as the invasion of Iraq, the report said.  In Afghanistan, Hildner had been working in support of the NATO training mission for Afghan soldiers and police since December.

Spc. Bernard Hill Jr. , 28, of Homestead, Florida, was killed in a military convoy wreck on the autobahn near Bamberg, Germany on April 24, 2012.  Hill was a unit supply clerk with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 15th Engineer Battalion.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Micah Aaron Hill, 27, of Ralston, Neb., died April 19, 2011 as a result of a non-combat related incident. Hill was assigned to the USS Enterprise as a machinist’s mate. Enterprise is currently deployed to the 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting operations in support of Operation New Dawn.

Spc. Jared Hillman, a 23-year-old Army specialist from Hickory, Mississippi, had been back from Iraq only a few weeks when his family found him dead in the woods Aug. 9, 2009, with a .40-caliber pistol still in his hands.  This incident was an apparent suicide which is being re-investigated as a possible homicide.  Hillman was assigned to the 647th Transportation Compan stationed in Meridian, Mississippi.

Spc. Casey L. Hills, 23, of Salem, Illinois, died June 24, 2009 in Iraq of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over. He was assigned to the 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Regiment, Pago Pago, American Samoa.

Sgt. Keicia M. Hines, 27, of Citrus Heights, California, died on January 14 2004 when she was struck by a vehicle on Mosul Airfield in Mosul, Iraq.  Hines was assigned to the 108th Military Police, Combat Support Company, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Pfc. Coleman W. Hinkefent, 19, of Coweta, Okla., died Dec. 20, 2008 in Hamburg, Germany of a non-combat related illness.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.

Senior Airmen Michael J. Hinkle II, 24, of Corona, Calif., died March 16, 2011 due to a non-combat related incident in Southwest Asia. He was assigned to the 28th Communications Squadron, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.

Capt. Wesley J. Hinkley, 36, of Carlisle, Pa., died April 4, 2011 in Baghdad, Iraq, as a result of a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Sustainment Brigade, Fort Stewart, Ga.

Capt. Kelly C. Hinz, 30, of Woodbury, Minnesota.  Hinz died from injuries received when the F/A-18 Hornet aircraft he was piloting crashed in Iraq while flying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to Fighter Attack Squadron 323, Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California. His unit was embarked aboard the U.S.S. Carl Vinson. Died on May 2, 2005.

Melissa Hobart, the East Haven native who collapsed and died in June 2004, had enlisted in the Army in early 2003 after attending nursing school, and initially was told she would be stationed in Alaska, her mother, Connie Hobart, said. When her orders were changed to Iraq, Melissa, the mother of a 3-year-old daughter, fell into a depression and sought help at Fort Hood, Texas, according to her mother. “Just before she got deployed, she said she was getting really depressed, so I told her to go talk to somebody,” Connie Hobart recalled. “She said they put her on an antidepressant.” Melissa, a medic, accepted her obligation to serve, even as her mother urged her to “go AWOL” and come home to Ladson, S.C., where the family had moved. But three months into her tour in Baghdad – and a week before she died – she told Connie she was feeling lost. “She wanted out of there. She said everybody’s morale was low,” Connie recalled. “She said the people over there would throw rocks at them, that they didn’t want them there. It was making her sad.” Around the same time, Melissa fainted and fell in her room, she told Connie in an e-mail. She said she had been checked out by a military doctor. The next week, while serving on guard duty in Baghdad, Melissa collapsed and died of what the Army has labeled “natural” causes. The autopsy report lists the cause of death as “undetermined.”

Pfc. Theron V. Hobbs, 22, of Albany, Ga., died Nov. 6, 2008 in a motor vehicle accident in Kirkuk, Iraq.  He was assigned to the 572nd Engineer Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin T. Hodge died on April 14, 1994 over Iraq when two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down by friendly fire.

Cpl. Benjamin D. Hoeffner, 21, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado.  Hoeffner died in Ali Al Salem, Kuwait of a non-combat related cause. He was assigned to the Army Reserve’s 324th Psychological
Operations Company, Aurora, Colorado. Died on October 25, 2005.

Capt. (Dr.) Roselle M. Hoffmaster, 32, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Sept.
20, 2007 in Kirkuk, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. She was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st  Brigade Combat Team, 10th  Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.  Suicide.

Spc. Christopher Hogg of Deltona, Fla., died Sept. 10, 2009 from “pneumonia due to H1N1 influenza,” according to Fort Jackson commander Brig. Gen. Bradley May.

Pfc. Kyle M. Holder, 18, of Conroe, Texas, died Nov. 17, 2010, at
Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment (Reconnaissance and Surveillance), 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Spc. Eric M. Holke, 31, of Crestline, Calif., died July 15, 2007 in Tallil, Iraq, of wounds sustained from a non-combat related incident. His death is under investigation.  Holke was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry, California Army National Guard, Fullerton, Calif.

Cpl. Terry Holmes, 22, of Hollywood, Florida.  Four members of the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California died July 10, 2004 due to a non-combat related vehicle accident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

Cpl. Paul C. Holter III 21, Battery S, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Corpus Christi, Texas Died due to a non-combat related incident at Camp Ramadi, Iraq, on January 14, 2005.  He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Lance Cpl. Raymond J. Holzhauer 19, 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force Dwight, Illinois Died of a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq, on March 15, 2007.

Sgt. Jacob M. Honeycutt, 22, of Elizabethton, Tenn., died March 4, 2012 following a crash on Highway 92 in Sierra Vista, base officials said.  The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that Honeycutt had a single gunshot wound to the chest that appeared to be self-inflicted and two handguns were found in his car. Honeycutt was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the crash, sheriff’s officials said.  Base officials said Honeycutt was training to become a Gray Eagle Unmanned Aerial System Operator and assigned to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment.   He entered the Army in July 2007 and is survived by his parents.

Petty Officer 1st Class James Hopkins, a Coast Guard electronics technician was shot to death along with a civilian employee at a remote communications station on the island of Kodiak, Alaska on April 12, 2012  This incident is under investigation.

Sgt. Ryan J. Hopkins, 21, of Livermore, Calif., died Jan. 8, 2010 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, of injuries sustained in a motor pool accident in Baghdad, Iraq, on Oct. 4, 2008 At the time of the incident, he was assigned to the 64th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.  At the time of his death, he was assigned to the Warrior Transition Unit, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.

Lance Cpl. Brian C. Hopper, 21, of Wynne, Arkansas.  Hopper died when the CH-53E helicopter he was in crashed near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

Pfc. Lukas C. Hopper, 20, of Merced, Calif., died Oct. 30. 2009, southeast of Karadah, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Pfc. Sean Horn 19, Combat Service Support Group 11, 1st Force Service Support Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Orange, California Died due to a non-hostile incident at Camp Taqaddum, Iraq, on June 19, 2004.

Tech Sgt. James R Hornbarger, 33, of Castle Rock, Wash., died Sept. 12, 2009 as a result of an illness related to a heart attack while he was stationed in the Mediterranean.  He was assigned to the 9th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Beale Air Force Base, Calif.

Petty Officer 3rd Class John D. House, 28, of Ventura, California.  House died in a helicopter crash near Ar Rutbah, Iraq. He was assigned to Naval Medical Clinic Hawaii, Marine Corps Units
Detachment, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Died on January 26, 2005.

Maj. Matthew P. Houseal, 54, of Amarillo, Texas. He was assigned to the 55th Medical Company, Indianapolis, Ind.  Died May 11, 2009 in Camp Liberty, Baghdad of wounds suffered in a non-combat related incident. Shot by a fellow soldier.

William Howell 36, 10th Special Forces Group El Paso shot himself after following his wife around the yard with a handgun.  Lariam suspected.

Cpl. Nathan C. Hubbard, 21,  2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division Clovis, California One of 14 soldiers killed when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter accidentally crashed while returning from a combat mission in Multaka, Iraq, on August 22, 2007. His older brother, Marine Lance Cpl. Jared Hubbard, was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Spc. Corey A. Hubbell 20, Company B, 46th Engineer Battalion Urbana, Illinois Died from a non-combat related cause in Camden Yards, Kuwait, on June 26, 2003 A specialist dies in Kuwait of breathing difficultiespossible vaccine reaction.

Senior Airman Michael Hudson II, 22, a maintainer with the 23rd Maintenance Group, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, died in May 2011 during physical training.  He suffered a heart attack after working through the night, according to witnesses.

Spc. Reggie D. Hudspeth, 27, of Fort Worth, died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on August 14, 2011. He was assigned to the 49th Movement Control Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command, Ft. Hood, TX.

Sgt. 1st Class Bradley S. Hughes, 41, of Newark, Ohio, died April 24, 2011 of a non-combat incident, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 528th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Spc. Jeremiah C. Hughes, 26, of Jacksonville, Fla., died April 9, 2008 in Balad Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident in Abu Gharab, Iraq.   He was assigned to the 1st Battalion,
21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team (Stryker), 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The incident is under investigation.

Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas C. Hull, 41, of Princeton, Ill., died Aug. 2 on board the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz in the Arabian Gulf after being medically evacuated to the carrier for a non-combat
related incident. Hull was an operations specialist assigned to the USS Princeton, home port in San Diego, Calif.

Pfc. Isaiah R. Hunt, 20, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, died November 15, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq, when the driver of his military vehicle accidentally struck another vehicle. Hunt was assigned to the 782nd Main Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Robert Hunt 22, Houston 8/1/2005. “On Monday, Hunt was found dead in his apartment by Killeen police. Officers were alerted after Hunt failed to report to work. Police say Hunt’s cause of death was listed as asphyxiation.”

Pfc. Gifford E. Hurt, 19, of Yonkers, N.Y., died Jan. 20, 2010 in Mosul, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a vehicle roll-over.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery Regiment, 214th Fires Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Sill, Okla.

Pvt. Nolen R. Hutchings, 19, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, died on March 23, 2003 in Nasiriyah, Iraq of possible friendly fire.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Pvt. Timothy J. Hutton, 21, of Dillon, Mont., died Aug. 4, 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, Bamberg, Germany.  The incident is under investigation.

Capt. Francis D. Imlay, 31, of Vacaville, Calif., died March 28, 2012 from injuries received in an accident involving an F-15 aircraft near a base in Southwest Asia. He was assigned to the 391st Fighter Squadron, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

Pvt. Bradley W. Iorio, 19, of Galloway, N.J., died May 29, 2009 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident May 27th in
Tallil, Iraq.  He was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Sgt. Brandon T. Islip, 23, of Richmond, Va., had been listed as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown.  His status was changed Nov. 29, 2009 to having died in a non-combat related incident.   He was a member of the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. and went missing, Nov. 4, 2009, while involved in a resupply mission in Bala Murghab, Afghanistan.  Islip and another paratrooper were swept away as they tried to
recover air-dropped supplies that had accidentally fallen into the water.
